Hello colouring peeps! Let me share a little background with you on how mixed media and art became my go-to lifesaver for the past several years. I am sure that when I share a bit about me, you can picture some part of it within your life and situations you may be experiencing.
With such turmoil in the global news lately, it seems as if no matter who you speak or interact with, everyone is fighting some sort of battle. You know the old saying that mental illness is something you shouldn't talk about. Well let me tell you, that is completely false. If we do not speak up, its stigma will never die.
I used to be an active member in our community and could always be found volunteering or fundraising for some sort of charity. I loved it and frankly, I miss it. Several years ago, I began feeling ill and not sure how to handle it all at once. Anxiety, depression and frustration set in on a daily basis and just could not cope with the unknown. That is of course, until I sought help. One of the best suggestions given, was to start a project that I would enjoy , like colouring. Well dang-it! I found the perfect answer. Immersing myself into art really did help me cope with my anxiety and I found that the more that I was able to create, the more that I felt I could handle all of the trials and tribulations thrown at me. Well so I thought hahaha... I have been put "through the ringer" so to speak. For the past several years I have had to deal with many difficult medical setbacks, that at times, it seemed impossible to accept. My faith has been tested many times but I am still blessed every day to wake up and be grateful to breathe for another day. If I did not have my art and the motivation to try and create everyday, I don't know where I would be today. With the absolute love and support of my husband and my dear friends, I can honestly say that dealing with the unknown on a daily basis has truly been a challenge. However, my art and my art studio has become my sanctuary and my peaceful space. When I realized how much that art did keep me from "imploding", I knew that I could still help others, even if it meant to do it in other ways besides community volunteering and the like. I started sharing my love of research with other friendly "peeps" around the world and felt a sense of worth once again. So now that my hubby has begun designing my very own website, I can start blogging and sharing more about my struggles, joys, excitement and of course, my love of art, with all of you. It will be a slow process as I am still trying to recover from an accident this past March, 2023. I can hardly wait until I can have the full use of my arm and hand so I can do more colouring and painting and all sorts of artistic creations to keep myself grounded , mentally, physically and emotionally. I look forward to meeting new like-minded individuals every day and hope to see you be a part of my coloring community over on Facebook!
Peace and love to all xoxo
